A New Tool for Your Genetic Data

What are GGPs?

GeneSeek Genomic Profiler (GGP) is a tool to measure genetic merit, predict traits in a sire or dam’s offspring and enable you to improve each generation of your herd. GGPs are the backbone of many formal genetic evaluations offered by Neogen.

GGP 100K

GGP 100K combines the knowledge of industry-leading scientists who have designed and processed more animal genotyping arrays than any other organization. The new generation GGP Bovine 50K leverages Neogen's leading SNP selection processes to choose the best 100,000 SNPs precisely. This delivers a more accurate evaluation of genetic merit, genome wide selection, comparative genetic studies, and higher density imputation. The GGP Bovine 100K contains all the content from popular lower density commercial arrays. Additionally, it has validated and retained the most informative SNPs from the original Illumina Bovine SNP50 and Illumina Bovine HD Bead Chips. Utilize the best content from the most commonly used commercial genotyping arrays, and for a low affordable price, PLUS comprehensive parentage, disease and trait relevant SNPs.

What are the advantages?

  • Measure maternal, performance and carcass traits in one report

  • Profile bull and heifer calves at any age

  • Save money by developing your best bulls

  • Retain elite heifers for your cow lineage

Why We Require GGP Bovine 100K

The American Akaushi Association requires all active and future donors and AI sires to have a GGP 100k. Requiring GGP 100k is the stepping stone to building genomically enhanced EBVs for the breed; incorporating genomic data into the genetic evaluation results in greater accuracy. This benefits American Akaushi Association members as it helps build our genomic-enhanced EPDs.
